New iOS Game Shows How In-App Purchases Should Be Done

Unless an in-app purchase adds new content (such as an expansion pack), I tend to loathe in-app purchases. They tend to ruin games by making them unplayable unless you fork over some extra cash, such as the recent Dungeon Keeper iOS fiasco has shown us, or they ramp up the difficulty to ensure you pay. Freemium is often seen as a cancer on the gaming industry, and I agree.

However, a new iOS game called “Any Landing” has a freemium model I can get behind. The game is free to download and play, and like other freemium games, it allows you to pay money to get ahead. But each purchase adds to a total lifetime in-app purchase cap of $9.99, and once you’ve spent that much (the same price as its “All You Can Fly” pack) the game never again asks you for more money.

I haven’t played the game yet, but I’ll be downloading it to give it a review. Keep an eye out for it in the next day or two!
